177 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the fact that (1) a drug (details supplied) is the subject of law suits in the United States and (2) this drug is currently available in Ireland; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
I am aware that this drug is the subject of a number of law suits in the United States.
The drug is the subject of a product authorisation in this country for use in the management of depression. It is available only on prescription and would only be used by patients under the care of a medical practitioner. It is subject to ongoing monitoring by the National Drugs Advisory Board.
