Ceist:179 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to any outstanding claims regarding addiction to a drug (details supplied); and if so, the number involved.

I am aware of reports that usage of this drug may lead, in certain circumstances, to addiction.
A plenary summons, in which the Minister for Health is named as a defendant, has been received by the Chief State Solicitor. The summons alleges addiction as a consequence of this drug. This is the only case of which I am aware in which any legal claim has been made.
