141 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for the Environment the total amount of road expenditure on non-national primary or secondary routes for each of the last five years; and the breakdown of finance for this expenditure between road grants from (1) his Department, (2) the domestic rate support grant which was apportioned to road expenditure by local authorities and (3) revenue from local authorities' own sources.
I refer to the reply to Question No. 175 of 23 April 1991 which provided data in respect of 1988 and 1989. Details in respect of the years 1985, 1986 and 1987 are published in the Statistical Abstracts for 1988, 1989 and 1990 respectively. The returns from local authorities only show a single figure under the heading "Local Funds" which means expenditure financed from local authorities' own resources, including rate support grants.
