Vol. 407 No. 9

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given to me under Standing Order 20(3)(a) and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Sheehan — The serious situation which has arisen in the farm development office of the Department of Agriculture and Food in Clonakilty, County Cork, and all other similar offices throughout the country, where work to rule policy now appertains and field officers are unable to carry out visits to farmers, owing to lack of money for travelling expenses; (2) Deputy Flaherty — The proposals to de-regulate oil prices and whether this includes the removal of the obligation on oil companies to purchase a portion of all products from the national oil refinery at Whitegate; (3) Deputy Creed — The non-availability of Exchequer funding to the Irish Guide Dogs Association resulting in inability to meet the demands by blind persons for guide dogs; (4) Deputy Gilmore — the delay in implementing the new housing policies which were contained in the Government's Plan for Social Housing; (5) Deputy Proinsias De Rossa — If the Minister for the Environment will provide Dublin Corporation with the necessary funds to meet their share of the costs for the refurbishment of Ballymun Town Centre; (6) Deputy Byrne — The effects of the cut in the organisation development grant from the Department of Education to the Voluntary Service International Youth Organisation; (7) Deputy Deasy — The industrial dispute involving cleaners, domestics and catering staff which is affecting services at hospitals in the Waterford area; (8) Deputy G. O'Sullivan — The serious allegations of Garda intimidation in Cork and other places in the country and (9) Deputy Deenihan — The drastic cuts in youth services grants for 1991 which will result in the loss of 50 jobs throughout the national youth organisations and the abandonment of several programmes for young people.

I have selected for discussion the matters raised by Deputies Sheehan, Flaherty and O'Sullivan.
