Ceist:41 Mr. Doyle asked the Minister for the Environment the action he intends to take to alleviate the serious overcrowding conditions which tenants on Dublin Corporation's transfer list are experiencing at present.

Arrangements for rehousing tenants on the transfer list are a matter for Dublin Corporation and I have no direct function in the matter. However, I would draw attention to the increased capital allocation to the corporation for their local authority housing programme this year. The 1991 allocation is £9.934 million, representing an increase of 25 per cent on the amount for 1990. In addition, the initiatives announced in A Plan for Social Housing provide tenants in over-crowded conditions with further opportunities of obtaining alternative accommodation suitable to their needs.
