Vol. 408 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Dublin School Transport.

Eamon Gilmore

Ceist:

155 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the fact that with effect from September 1991, approximately 200 primary school children will be leaving Ballyogan Estate, County Dublin to attend various primary schools in south Dublin; and if she will agree to provide free school transport for these children in view of the fact that a primary school has not yet been provided in the immediate locality.

The general position is that the children in question live within two miles of the nearest national school and are, therefore, not eligible for free transport to school.

However, the question of the arrangements which may be made for the children in question, having regard to the numbers requiring accommodation, is being actively examined by my Department.
