Vol. 408 No. 5

Written Answers. - Alleviation of Flooding.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

49 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance if he will outline the plans or proposals by the Office of Public Works for the alleviation of flooding to the property of a person (details supplied) in County Kildare which arises from seepage from the Royal Canal; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There is no seepage from the Royal Canal at this location. The flooding mentioned is being caused by the necessity to clean a culvert which runs under the canal and which is partially blocked where it runs through adjoining lands. The cleaning of this stream is a matter for the landowners in question.
