Vol. 408 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rathfarnham (Dublin) Castle.

Alan Shatter

Ceist:

11 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Finance whether he will agree to arrangements being made to allow the Rathfarnham concert band have use of the facilities at Rathfarnham Castle following the completion of the preservation works on the castle; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Office of Public Works propose to restore and present Rathfarnham Castle as a major national monument. The out-buildings will be developed and controlled by Dublin County Council. As I previously indicated, I do not consider that the use of the castle itself by the concert band would be appropriate. However, on completion of the works all applications for the use of the castle will, of course, be considered.
