Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given to me under Standing Order 20 (3) (a) and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Pat Lee — The recent decision by the Minister for Justice to remove 100 uniformed gardaí from their temporary plain clothes posting which has effectively resulted in the abolition of all plain clothes Garda crime prevention units in the Dublin metropolitan area; (2) Deputy Michael Lowry — The placing in receivership of Sable Shirt Manufacturing Limited, and the consequences for the 44 people employed in Thurles by Sable Outwear Manufacturing Limited. The role of SFADCo in the sequence of events to date, and the extent of the efforts to ensure that the Thurles plant and jobs are protected and that the plant continues to operate as a viable concern; (3) Deputy Brian Cowen — While welcoming the proposed extension of less severely handicapped areas under the disadvantaged areas scheme in County Offaly and the prospects for other areas to be so included on appeal to the appeals tribunal, to ask the Minister for Agriculture and Food to urgently re-examine and review the reclassification proposals in relation to County Offaly to enable the inclusion of the district electoral divisions that comprise the Shannon Valley and Sliabh Bloom areas in County Offaly, as severely handicapped areas under the scheme; (4) Deputy Seán Ryan — The crisis in Holy Family junior national school, River Valley, Swords, where up to 140 children may have to be refused entry in September 1991, due to the lack of accommodation; (5) Deputy John Browne (Wexford)— The problem of 200 horses belonging to itinerants roaming wild and out of control on the streets of Enniscorthy destroying public and private property; (6) Deputy Enda Kenny — The nature and extent of manufacturing services in Ballinrobe, County Mayo; (7) Deputy Jimmy Deenihan — The proposed closure of beds at Tralee General Hospital in July and August which is the peak of the tourism season; (8) Deputy Eric Byrne — The delay in implementing the shared ownership scheme which is contained in the Government's plan for social housing; (9) Deputy Eamon Gilmore — The subject matter of Parliamentary Question No. 134 of 21 May 1991 to the Minister for the Environment; (10) Deputy Pat McCartan — The circumstances surrounding the imprisonment and release of a young woman at Mountjoy Prison during the past weekend for the offence of evading a 60p fare; (11) Deputy Tony Gregory — The regulations announced by the Minister for the Environment regarding restrictions on breeds of fighting dogs, including American pit bull terriers; (12) Deputy Michael Ferris — Whether the Commission has approved of the Government's submission for the classification of new disadvantaged areas and the reclassification of existing areas; (13) Deputy Roger Garland — The widespread public disquiet about control of large vicious dogs and the lack of sufficient dog wardens to enforce the regulations; and (14) Deputy Jim Higgins — The need for the Taoiseach to approve a grant for the restoration of No. 33 Synge Street, Dublin 2, the birthplace of George Bernard Shaw.

I have selected for discussion the matters raised by the following Deputies: Deputy Enda Kenny, Deputy Pat McCartan and Deputy Tony Gregory.
