70 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Justice the percentage of burglaries committed by professional criminals in the Cork city area.

75 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Justice if he will outline (1) the percentage of burglaries in the Cork city area which are committed on unoccupied houses and (2) the number of these committed between (a) 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. and (b) 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.

76 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Justice the percentage of burglaries in the Cork city area which are through unlocked doors and windows.

82 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Justice the number of burglaries which are committed by entry through windows which are locked in the Cork city area.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 70, 75, 76 and 82 together.

The information which is readily available relates to the level of burglaries recorded for the Cork city area in respect of (1) dwellings — including houses, flats etc., and (2) other premises. The relevant figures for 1989 and provisional figures for 1990 are set out in the following tabular statement. The other information sought by the Deputy is not readily available and could be obtained only by the expenditure of a disproportionate amount of Garda time and resources.

71 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Justice the number of mechanically propelled vehicles stolen on an average day in Cork city; and if he will break down this figure into (1) cars, (2) lorries, (3) motorcycles and (4) others.
