Ceist:86 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Justice if he has any plans to change the legislation in relation to pleas of insanity by reason of automatism.

I would draw the Deputy's attention to the statement made on my behalf in this House on 13 February 1991 (Official Report, volume 405 No. 1, columns 286-288) where it was announced that it had been decided to introduce legislation with a view to amending the law in relation to criminal insanity.
It would not be appropriate at this stage for me to comment on any specific details relating to the proposed legislation.
