Vol. 409 No. 1

Written Answers. - Motor Insurance Convictions.

Ivor Callely

Ceist:

91 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Justice the number of convictions for driving without motor insurance in 1989 and 1990; and the number of convictions which were for persons under 25 years of age.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that statistics for motor insurance offences detected by the force are not compiled by reference to the age of the offenders. The total number of convictions for motor insurance offences in 1989 was 25,184. The provisional figure for convictions for these offences in 1990 is 26,593.
