Vol. 409 No. 2

Written Answers. - Accident Compensation Claim.

Michael Bell

Ceist:

66 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Justice the reason for the delay in the processing of a claim for occupational accident compensation benefit under the scheme administered by his Department for a person (details supplied) in County Louth; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that this person has suffered a severe drop in his earnings because of his forced retirement on medical grounds; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The only compensation scheme administered by my Department for gardaí injured on duty is the scheme operated under the Garda Compensation Acts, 1941 and 1945 which deals with injuries maliciously inflicted. There is no record in my Department of any claim under this scheme having been received from the person concerned.
