Vol. 409 No. 5
35 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Justice if he will indicate the nature of establishments, if any, which may sell intoxicating liquor to their members and which do not require a liquor or club licence.
Under the liquor licensing code a licence is required by any premises before it can engage in the sale of intoxicating liquor. Various types of licence are provided for in the legislation to cover a wide range of premises. In the case of private clubs which supply liquor to members and guests, a club certificate under the Registration of Clubs Act, 1904, as amended, is required and the provisions of the licensing laws in general apply to the operation of such clubs.
