Vol. 409 No. 5

Written Answers. - Dog Licence Fees.

Ruairí Quinn

Ceist:

112 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details of the total revenue collected by each warden in each local authority for the years ending 1989 and 1990; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The income accruing to local authorities under the Control of Dogs Act, 1986, is not collected by dog wardens. This income derives almost entirely from dog licence fees collected by An Post and passed on by them to the local authorities. The income figures for 1989 and 1990 were £688,188 and £734,417 respectively, net of An Post's administration costs.
