Ceist:

136 Mr. Sherlock asked the Minister for Health if he will outline the amount given directly by his Department to the National Council for the Blind in each of the years from 1987 to 1990; and if he will further outline the amounts which each health board gave to the National Council for the Blind or local branches of that organisation in the same years.

The National Council for the Blind do not normally receive direct funding from my Department although a grant of £50,000 was allocated to the council from the national lottery in 1989. The following table indicates the payments made by the health boards to the council from 1987 to 1990:
