Vol. 409 No. 6

Written Answers. - Ballybrack (Dublin) School Site.

Eamon Gilmore

Ceist:

164 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Education if she will confirm who owns the site of St. John's national school, Oakton Park, Ballybrack, County Dublin; if the building which houses the girls' school is to be demolished; and the future use which is planned for the site.

The site of St. John's national school, Oakton Road, Ballybrack, County Dublin is the property of the St. Laurence O'Toole Diocesan Trust. The girls' school has been accommodated in a prefabricated structure for many years and is beyond economic repair. The question of the amalgamation of the girls' and the boys' school in the existing boys' national school building where there is spare capacity is being considered by the schools' authorities. When this takes place the prefabricated structure referred to will no longer be required for schools purposes and I understand the relevant authorities propose to demolish it as it is considered to be in a hazardous condition.

The disposal of the site of the girls' school would be a matter for the owners in accordance with normal practice.
