Ceist:

65 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Education if she will introduce a special scholarship scheme to third level institutions for Irish athletics in order to keep some of our star athletes at home; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

My Department operate a scheme of grants to outstanding sportspersons. It is open to students who are outstanding sportspersons to apply for grants under this scheme and a number of such students have received financial assistance.
