Vol. 409 No. 10

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given to me under Standing Order 20 (3) (a) and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy J. Bruton — the failure of the Minister for Education to specify whether work will commence on the second level school in Ashbourne this year; (2) Deputy Dukes — the "back to school" clothing allowances for social welfare recipients in the Eastern Health Board area; (3) Deputy G. Reynolds — the inadequacy of the water supply in the Carngy, Cashelgarron, Gortarowey and Lissadell areas of north Sligo and the reason for the delay by the Minister for the Environment in sanctioning an allocation to Sligo County Council for the improvement of the scheme, the application for which was sent to his Department in 1986; (4) Deputy Ellis — the dispute concerning clerical staff in the farm development service which is preventing the process of applications under the farm development scheme; (5) Deputy Sherlock — the lack of funding for the recently opened school for autistic children in Carrigtwohill, County Cork and (6) Deputy McCartan — the very worrying figures emerging which indicate that the Raheny district of Dublin has the highest increase in crime in the country in 1990 and the need for the Minister for Justice to introduce an action plan to address this problem.

I have selected for discussion the matters raised by the following Deputies: (1) Deputy G. Reynolds; (2) Deputy Sherlock and (3) Deputy J. Bruton.
