Vol. 409 No. 10

Written Answers. - County Louth Leaving Certificate Students.

Michael Bell

Ceist:

70 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Education if her Department can make alternative arrangements on behalf of a person (details supplied) in County Louth so that she can complete her leaving certificate as she was taken ill whilst sitting the exam, and missed part of the subject and the whole of two other subjects.

My Department make special arrangements each year to enable candidates who are ill to take part of their examinations in hospital, subject to their doing their examinations at the appointed time.

In the case of candidates who are taken ill during the course of the examination and are therefore unable to take the examinations at the appointed time, it is not feasible to provide replacement papers in either the intermediate or leaving certificate examinations.

The Department are presently studying the documentation, which has been submitted, on the case.
