Vol. 409 No. 10

Written Answers. - County Dublin Community College.

Pat Rabbitte

Ceist:

74 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Education whether her attention has been drawn to the fact that St. MacDara's community college, Willington, in County Dublin, (a) does not have a games hall for the use of its 900 pupils, or a permanent post of PE teacher, and (b) is in urgent need of improvement as regards indoor and outdoor sports facilities; if she will outline her Department's plans to provide better facilities for physical education in the college; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

As the Deputy is aware there are many applications before my Department for the provision of new schools and extensions to provide urgently needed teaching accommodation. Therefore all capital resources available at present are committed to addressing this need.

In so far as the question of the provision of a permanent post of PE teacher in St. MacDara's community college is concerned, this is a matter for determination by the County Dublin Vocational Education Committee within their overall teacher allocation.
