Vol. 409 No. 10

Written Answers. - Army Hospital Beds.

P. J. Sheehan

Ceist:

77 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for Defence if he will outline the reason the bed complement at the Army hospital, Collins Barracks, Cork has been reduced from 60 to 32 beds.

Following a recent review of the requirements of the Defence Forces, it has been decided that the military hospital, Collins Barracks, Cork should be re-classified as a district hospital with a capacity of 32 beds. This is, in effect, a recognition of the actual staffing levels and other resources of the hospital for a number of years past. The re-classification does not entail any reduction in the staff of the hospital.
