Patrick McCartan

Ceist:

137 Mr. McCartan asked the Minister for Justice the number of gardaí stationed at the following Garda stations (a) Howth, Dublin 13, (b) Raheny, Dublin 5 and (c) Coolock, Dublin 5 for the years 1989, 1990 and to date in 1991; if he will outline his intentions regarding manning levels in the immediate future and in response to the recent indications of an increase of crime in the Santry and Raheny Garda districts; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The particulars of Garda manpower sought in the question are set out in the following table:

31 December 1989

31 May 1991

Howth

Coolock

The current overall strength assigned to the stations in question represents a net increase of 12 since the beginning of this year. The Garda authorities inform me that manning levels at these and other stations in the Coolock, Santry and Raheny districts will be kept under constant review having regard to the crime situation and policing needs in each area.
