Vol. 410 No. 6

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given to me under Standing Order 20 (3) (a) and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy J. Higgins — The need for the Minister for Education to constitute immediately the National Council for Education Awards which lapsed in July 1990 and has not been reappointed; (2) Deputy Andrews — If the Minister for Foreign Affairs will express his grave dissatisfaction and disappointment to the British authorities at the failure of the British Court of Appeal to vindicate totally Mrs. Annie McGuire and family in their claim of innocence of any connection with a bombing campaign in England in 1974; (3) Deputy M. Ferris — The overrun in the general medical services estimate with the consequential loss of medical card services and (4) Deputy R. Garland — The serious risk imposed by the proposed development of Howth House to the archaeological site at Howth Abbey.

I have selected for discussion the matters raised by the following Deputies: Deputy Andrews, Deputy Garland and Deputy J. Higgins.
