Vol. 410 No. 6

Written Answers. - Medical Card Application.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

123 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Health the reason a person (details supplied) in Dublin 1 was refused a medical card.

The question of determining eligibility for a medical card is a matter solely for the chief executive officer of the relevant health board.

I understand from the Eastern Health Board that the person in question did not respond to a review form which was issued by the board and consequently eligibility lapsed.

Upon reapplying for the card in July 1989, the board found the persons income to be in excess of the guidelines and the application was refused.

I have asked the board to issue the person concerned with an application form for a medical card.
