Ceist:

158 Mr. Ryan asked the Minister for Education if she will outline in respect of the following (1) primary teachers (2) secondary teachers, (3) vocational teach ers, (4) comprehensive school teachers and (5) community school teachers, (a) the total number of such teachers, (b) the total number drawing allowances for acting as vice-principals, (d) the total number of such teachers drawing allow ances for holding A posts of responsi bility, (e) the total number of such teachers drawing allowances to holding B posts of responsibility and (f) the total number of such teachers who were on each of the following points on the common basic scale on 1 January 1991- £18,214, £19,191 and £20,271.

The information sought is given in the following tabular statement.

The Department's records do not dif ferentiate between community and com prehensive school teachers.

The available details in the case of vocational teachers are expressed in whole-time teacher equivalents (WTEs). The Department do not keep detailed records of vocational teachers. These are kept by the vocational education com mittees. The information requested by the Deputy is being sought from the com mittees and will be forwarded to the Deputy when available.
