108 Tomás Mac Giolla asked the Minister for the Environment if he plans any review of the smoke control measures in Dublin following the completion of the first winter of operation; if his attention has been drawn to reports that some householders have continued to buy and burn bituminous coal in view of the high cost of low smoke fuels; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am currently reviewing all aspects of the operation of the Dublin coal ban.

Enforcement of the ban is statutorily the responsibility of the three Dublin local authorities and alleged non-compliance with the relevant regulations would be for them to pursue.
