Vol. 411 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Clare Nursing Home Beds.

Donal Carey

Ceist:

504 Mr. Carey asked the Minister for Health if his Department are monitoring the number of nursing home beds available in County Clare in order to ensure that the Mid-Western Health Board will not close wards in the geriatric hospitals when there is an acute shortage of suitable accommodation; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The provision of an adequate number of nursing home beds in County Clare is a matter for the Mid-Western Health Board. I am satisfied that there is an adequate provision of such beds in Clare. I am not aware that the board have plans to close any wards in hospitals for the elderly in Clare.
