Vol. 411 No. 5

Written Answers. - Brownstown (Kildare) National School.

Alan M. Dukes

Ceist:

127 Mr. Dukes asked the Minister for Education if her Department have yet concluded their inquiries into the staffing levels at Brownstown national school, Curragh, County Kildare; and, if so, if she will confirm that a fifth assistant teacher will be appointed to the school without delay.

The staffing of a national school is determined by the valid enrolment in the school on the 30 September of the previous year. This is in accordance with the agreement on staffing made between the Government and the INTO. In the case of St. Brigid's national school, Brownstown, County Kildare, there were 169 pupils validly enrolled on 30 September 1990, which warrants a staff of principal plus four assistants for the 1991-92 school year.
