Written Answers. - Health Board Funding.

Ceist:

62 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Health if he will outline the amount of finance which will be granted and the projects that will be funded under the Programme for Economic and Social Progress for the South Eastern Health Board; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The South Eastern Health Board have received the following funding from this year's special budget allocation to implement the commitments to develop services contained in the Programme for Economic and Social Progress:

1. Services for the Elderly— £300,000

(a)Provision of 12 bed Rehabilitation/Assessment unit in Sacred Heart Hospital, Carlow.

(full year cost £162,000)

(b)Provision of units at St. Columba's, Thomastown for elderly mentally infirm patients (capital cost)
£150,000
(c)Provision of new day care units for elderly at Bagenalstown (£50,000) and Cappoquin (£35,000)
£85,000
2.Child Psychiatry and Child Care Services— £75,000
(full year cost £200,000).
3.Mental Handicap
The board will be informed shortly of its allocation under this heading.
