Vol. 412 No. 1

Written Answers. - Cork-Youghal Railway Line.

Peter Barry

Ceist:

29 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications if he will have the possibility of upgrading the Cork/Youghal railway line as a tourist and commuter amenity investigated by Iarnród Éireann and provide the necessary funds for same.

The question of the re-opening of the Cork-Youghal rail link is, under the Transport Acts, a matter for Iarnród Éireann.

I understand that in view of the inadequate level of demand, Iarnród Éireann have no plans to reopen the rail link as a tourist and commuter amenity.
