87 Mr. Cosgrave asked the Taoiseach if he will give details of the number of staff employed in the private office (1) on a permanent basis and (2) on a part-time or temporary basis of each member of the Government and each Minister of State; and if he will further give details of the total cost for such staff for the years (a) 1970 to 1975, (b) 1975 to 1980 and (c) 1980 to date.
The available details of the staffing position in the Departments of the Taoiseach and the Gaeltacht requested by the Deputy are contained in the following schedule. The Deputy should address the question to each individual Minister in respect of his or her Department.
The records of my Department do not indicate the precise allocation of staff to the offices of the Taoiseach and the Minister of State for the periods (1) 1970 to 1975, (2) 1975 to 1980 and (3) 1980 to date but figures at the change of Government in 1987 are available and are contained in the following schedule.
