Ceist:106 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will give details of the rate of the suckler cow grant payable to farmers under the 1991 scheme; and the rate envisaged for 1992.
Written Answers. - Suckler Cow Grant.
The present rate of payment under the 1991 EC suckler cow premium schemes for non-suppliers of milk and for small-scale milk producers is £52.73. The EC Commission has proposed an increase of between £15.82 and £17.58 in this amount, however, to apply for 1991 only. I am seeking EC approval of this measure, therefore, so that the increase in question can contribute in a worthwhile way to farmers' incomes in 1991.
