Ceist:

11 Mr. Taylor asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will make a statement on the appointment of an insurance ombudsman outlining the role of such an official and if he will outline his views on the desirability of such an office.

Mr. O'Malley

The Irish Insurance Federation announced earlier this year that it intended to establish an independent insurance ombudsman service to deal with complaints against insurance companies. I welcome this industry initiative and look forward to its early inauguration.
