117 Mr. Sherlock asked the Minister for Justice if he will arrange with the Garda Commissioner to accede to the request of the Ballycotton and District Concerned Residents, that the Ballycotton Garda area in County Cork remains under the jurisdiction of Midleton and not, as proposed in the review, be put under the administration of Youghal Garda Station.
Ballycotton Garda sub-district was included in the new administrative area of Youghal following a careful study of policing in the Midleton Garda district by the Garda authorities which took account of all relevant factors including operational and service considerations. The Garda authorities inform me that this arrangement will be reviewed as part of the general review of the community-policing initiative which is currently in progress.
