Vol. 413 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Edward Nealon

Ceist:

85 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if his attention has been drawn to the fact that cattle headage grant applications are now only being batched in the district offices of his Department; and if, in view of this he will now allay widespread fears amongst the farming community in the disadvantaged areas that a large percentage of these grants will not be paid by Christmas.

The percentage of headage grant payments which will be made this year will be well up to the percentage of payments made in previous years. The total amount which should be paid at over £80 million will, however, be in excess of the amounts paid in previous years.
