Ceist:180 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay in making payment of salary to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo.
Written Answers. - Salary Payment Delay.
The particular teacher's application was submitted to my Department in the last week of September 1991 and was one of many applications for part-time teacher status. It was processed as expeditiously as possible particularly having regard to the fact that the teacher's final time-tabled hours were not notified to the Department until quite recently.
The part-time teacher in question received an advance of salary in early November 1991 pending her establishment on the Department's payroll system. The teacher is now so established and will receive her salary cheque in the normal way on 5 December 1991.
