Written Answers. - Radio Aid Application.

Liam Aylward

Ceist:

186 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education the reason for the long delay in having a radio aid sanctioned for a person (details supplied) in County Wateford who is on the priority list of his Department for some time.

Radio aids are connected to an audio input socket on a child's hearing aid.

However, in the case of the child in question, it has been ascertained that the hearing aid fitted does not have a suitable socket. The authority responsible for the provision of hearing aids, the National Rehabilitation Board, has been advised of the child's requirements.

When a suitable hearing aid has been provided by the National Rehabilitation Board, the child will be tested to determine suitability for a radio aid and, if found suitable, the aid will be provided.
