Vol. 413 No. 5

Written Answers. - Tallaght (Dublin) School Repairs.

Mervyn Taylor

Ceist:

188 Mr. Taylor asked the Minister for Education if his attention has been drawn to the fact that repairs are urgently needed at St. Mark's national school, Springfield, Tallaght, Dublin 24 where ongoing and continuing damage has been caused over the past two or three years as a result of serious roof defects and water penetration to the fabric of the building which is causing disruption to the education process in the school; if having regard to the fact that the application for authorisation for these repairs was made quite some time ago, he will confirm that such authorisation will be given as a matter of the utmost urgency before further damage to the building is caused; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am aware of the situation in relation to St. Mark's national school, Springfield, Tallaght, Dublin 24, and my Department have recently approved a grant in respect of a major scheme of works to the roof. My Department's professional staff will give the school authorities the necessary advice to enable the works to be carried out at the earliest possible date.
