Vol. 413 No. 5
198 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Defence the progress which has been made by the defence review initiated in 1987; and whether any reports have been made or recommendations issued.
The Defence Review brought to light certain issues in a number of areas which require detailed examination. A detailed analysis of these matters has been undertaken. A number of reports have been submitted for consideration by the Strategic Management Committee of my Department. For security reasons it would not be appropriate to publish details.
I also refer the Deputy to a reply made by my predecessor in answer to questions on 31 October last in relation to an examination of Defence Forces peacetime establishments.
