Vol. 413 No. 5

Written Answers. - Cathal Brugha (Dublin) Barracks.

Gerard Brady

Ceist:

209 Mr. G. Brady asked the Minister for Defence if he will outline his plans for the future of Cathal Brugha Barracks in Dublin 6; his views on whether these barracks meet modern Army needs; and if he proposes to sell off these quarters, in part or in full, for further housing development.

Cathal Brugha Barracks is the headquarters of the 2nd Battalion, permanent Defence Force, and of several other units of the Eastern Command and is of strategic importance to the Defence Forces. The refurbishment and modernisation of the barracks have been undertaken in recent years and further improvement works are planned in the next few years. There are no plans to dispose of any portion of the barracks.
