Vol. 413 No. 7

Written Answers. - Health Cuts Savings.

Monica Barnes

Ceist:

55 Mrs. Barnes asked the Minister for Health if she will outline (1) the savings which were projected from the series of health cuts introduced in July and (2) the savings that are now likely to be realised; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Details of the measures relating to the health services which were included in the mid-year corrective package are set out in the following table. While there are indications that some of these measures will not achieve the full target savings, it is not possible to predict the outcome until the end of the year.

Health agencies have been informed on a number of occasions this year of the necessity to ensure that expenditure is contained within approved levels. My Department are in continuous contact with health agencies to ensure that expenditure is so contained.
