Vol. 413 No. 9

Written Answers. - Health and Safety Regulations.

Peter Barry

Ceist:

177 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Social Welfare if his Department and the State agencies under his control have prepared a safety statement as required under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 1989.

Preparation of my Department's safety statement is at an advanced stage. A draft statement has been drawn up in consultation with staff representatives and this has been largely agreed with the staff. It is hoped to deal with the remaining issues and to finalise the safety statement in the near future.

The position as regards the State agencies under the control of my Department is that the Combat Poverty Agency has prepared a safety statement.

The Pensions Board, which was established earlier this year, has recently acquired accommodation for its staff. The board is conscious of its obligations to prepare a safety statement in respect of this workplace and intends to do so as soon as possible.
