51 Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for Defence the number of new personnel recruited to the FCA in each of the past three years; if he has satisfied himself with the rate of recruitment; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The information requested is as follows: 1989, 3,057; 1990, 3,196 and 1991 (to 31 October), 2,221.
Recruitment takes place on an annual basis to all units of the FCA up to the permitted maximum strength levels. Recruitment is maintained throughout the year as required, to offset wastage.
