Vol. 414 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

44 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the total number of applicants under the special beef premium scheme received from County Kildare for each year from 1986 to date; the number approved and refused each year; the reason for the refusals; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The information requested is as follows:

1,510 at least

1,507

In 1987 and 1988 records were not kept of the numbers of applications but were maintained in respect of the numbers of cases paid only and it is not known, therefore, how many applicants were refused payment in those years. All applicants refused payment in those years and in 1989 and 1990 were ruled out of the special beef premium schemes because they failed to comply with the terms and conditions thereof.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

45 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if medical evidence (details supplied) will be accepted to review the special beef premium application of a person (details supplied) in County Kildare on the grounds that his medical condition was the main contributory factor in the incorrect filling of the application form; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

If a medical certificate specifically saying that this person's medical condition affected the completion of his 1991 application is received by my Department this case can be reviewed further.

P. J. Sheehan

Ceist:

46 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will be paid a farm improvement grant.

It is hoped to have this grant paid within the next four or five weeks.
