Vol. 414 No. 4

Written Answers. - Lough Easkey (Sligo) Water Supply.

Edward Nealon

Ceist:

187 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline (1) if all of the work has now been completed on stage 2 of the Lough Easkey water scheme, County Sligo; (2) the total cost of stage 2; (3) the number of gallons of water per day this scheme can supply; (4) the extent, in miles, of the pipelines laid in stage 2; (5) the areas for which stage 2 is available as a source of supply; (6) the total number of householders in the area; (7) the number of householders receiving a water supply from the stage 2 source at present; and (8) the estimated amount of water used through these connections at present being taken from the stage 2 source.

Work was recently completed on stage 2 of the Lough Easkey water supply scheme at an estimated cost of £2.715 million. The scheme, which is designed to serve a population of 4,492 persons, comprises 26.5 miles of pipelines and will provide 494,940 gallons of water to an area of approximately 62.8 square miles in south-west County Sligo. Information on the number of householders connected to the system and the amount of water used is not available in my Department.
