Vol. 414 No. 9

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefit.

Ruairí Quinn

Ceist:

83 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason a person (details supplied) in Dublin 2 who is on long term unemployment assistance was refused the Christmas bonus, when he has given proof to the employment exchange that he was admitted to the Meath Hospital on 24 November, discharged on 30 November and because of this he was unable to sign on the week starting 27 November; the reason his family should be punished for the fact that he was ill; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Christmas bonus of 70 per cent for the weekly payment is being paid in this case.
