119 Mrs. Taylor-Quinn asked the Minister for Education if he will outline the publications available, if any, which give details of the number of pupils and teachers that have been involved in second level education over the past 40 years.
Pupil and teacher data concerning second level education over the past 40 years are contained in my Department's annual reports, copies of which are placed in the Dáil Library upon publication. The Deputy will appreciate that there have, over the years, been changes in the format in which data are published in the annual report. This, allied to changes which have taken place within the education system itself, means that data published in earlier editions of the report are not necessarily directly comparable with material contained in later versions.
