158 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will outline the steps, if any, he proposes to take to introduce a new local agricultural forum along the lines of the disbanded county committees of agriculture; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
I have no proposals to introduce a new local agricultural forum along the lines of the former county committees of agriculture. The Local Government Act 1991 provides for the establishment by local authorities of committees to consider matters connected with the functions of the authorities and to advise them on these matters or to perform functions of the authorities delegated to the committees. Such committees could consider agricultural matters.
