Written Answers. - Farm Electrification Grant Scheme Funding.

258 Mr. Connor asked the Minister for Energy if he will make a statement on the future of the farm electrification grants scheme which has been proposed for drastic reduction in funding in 1992; and if he will give details of the outcome of the discussions, if any, he has had with the ESB on taking up the funding shortfall in this scheme.

The Government decided to reduce the allocation of Exchequer funds available for the farm electrification grants scheme for 1992 from £500,000 to £150,000.

Discussions are still taking place with the ESB on ways and means of operating the scheme within the budgetary constraints imposed.
